- Use an awl or drill to make evenly spaced holes around the perimeter of the base, about 1 inch apart.
- Begin Weaving:
- Start by laying out a few reeds side by side on the base, slightly overlapping each other.
- Secure the ends of the reeds to the base with binder clips or clothespins.
- Start the Weaving Pattern:
- Once the base is covered, begin weaving the sides of the basket by bending the reeds upwards.
- Weave the reeds over and under each other in a simple over-under pattern.
- Keep the tension tight as you weave to ensure a sturdy basket.
- Continue Weaving:
- As you reach the desired height for your basket, continue weaving in a spiral pattern, building up the sides.
- You can add additional reeds as needed to maintain the desired thickness.
- Finish the Rim:
